Errors occur while launching Dynamics SL 7.0 when you have .NET 3.5 SP1 Installed

After a routine Windows update, several of our clients have experienced the following issue when they try to open Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0:

     

  • On an x64 computer, Microsoft Dynamics SL opens. However, the menu captions appear as numbers instead of as words.
  • On an x32 computer, Microsoft Dynamics SL does not open. You receive a generic Windows error message and SL closes.

     

This prevents the user from logging into Dynamics SL on their workstation. This problem occurs when you have .NET 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.

     

Supported Hotfix H701_18312SY is now available from Microsoft to resolve this issue.

     

To Request the Supported Hotfix from Microsoft:

Once you select the Hotfix and submit, Microsoft will send it to the email address provided. Installation instructions are in the .zip file provided by Microsoft and will need to be applied.
