Earlier this year, the Cloud Accounting Institute conducted a national survey on cloud accounting or Software as a Service (SaaS). The survey identified the following:
- Cloud adoption status
- Key benefits of cloud solutions
- Key concerns of cloud solutions
- Expectations of cloud solutions
The Cloud Accounting Best Practices: 2012 Benchmark study presents the results of this survey as well as cloud accounting best practices, outlooks, and trends. In addition, the survey results are benchmarked against related cloud surveys by key analysts including Saugatuck Technologies (2012) and Forrester (2010) to see how a SMB sample differs from an enterprise sample.
Overall, the study identifies that finance and accounting professionals are adopting cloud accounting and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions at a slower rate than other IT categories. However, accounting systems are migrating substantially from on-premise to the cloud.
