Have you heard the buzz? Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 has arrived! Two new features that I find particularly useful are the pre-defined templates in Microsoft Word, and enhanced email capabilities.
Pre-Defined Templates in Microsoft Word
In Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 you have the ability to work in an environment that we’re all familiar with: Microsoft Word.
For years, Microsoft Dynamics GP users have worked with the GP Report Writer tool to modify forms, and have suffered attempting to make basic changes to forms such as a Sales Order Processing invoice or a purchase order form. With GP 2010, the suffering is over! Dynamics GP now has predefined Microsoft Word templates for sales, receivables, and purchasing documents.
Let’s take a look at an SOP invoice form. You’ll notice a new option on the Report Destination window; Report Type. You can select standard, which generates the GP Report Writer form.
You now also have the option of selecting a template. This will generate the form in a Microsoft Word document, where you can easily modify the form.
Enhanced Email Capabilities
Have you ever generated an EFT file for vendor payments and wished you could email the vendor a remittance form? I know I have. Well, more good news. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 has enhanced email capabilities.
You can embed documents into your email messages or send as attachments. The following document types are available for attachments:
And, more importantly, you have the option of sending a single document, batches of documents, or multiple documents using lists.
The following documents can be sent in an email:
These are just two of the many new features in Dynamics GP 2010. I encourage you to take the time to explore and learn them.
