Imagine this, you’re sitting at the airport, and learn that your flight has just been canceled. Or maybe a meeting ran long, and you’re unable to fight rush hour traffic to make your next flight. Or perhaps you had to hop the next flight to Dallas (or wherever it is you’re going) and need a place to stay last minute.
It happens to business travelers every day. Trying to book that last minute hotel was either egregiously overpriced if not impossible to find. Launched in 2010, HotelTonight arose as an option for travelers to find last minute hotels (and hotel deals), and has gained popularity while expanding from same-day bookings to booking one week in advance.
Now, the app (Android, iOS, Windows) has taken its next step in simple last-minute hotel booking for business travelers by partnering with Concur to go from ‘simple booking’ to ‘simple booking and expensing’ for last minute business trips.
Part of the Concur’s mission to provide travelers with “The Perfect Trip,” the travel and expense management software recently announced its latest partnership with HotelTonight as well as ridesharing platform Lyft to help travelers find more options within their travel policy at an often-lower cost than traditional methods.
Further, this benefits travel managers, who can gain greater visibility into company spending while maintaining control of business expenses.
Tim MacDonald, Executive Vice President of Travel at Concur was quoted in a recent press release:
“Bringing more on-demand mobile applications into the Concur business travel ecosystem is in line with our vision of helping our customers and partners experience The Perfect Trip,” said MacDonald. “Our data shows half of business trips are booked less than two weeks out, which fuels the need for on-demand travel apps. By partnering with companies like Lyft and HotelTonight, we’re advancing our commitment to innovation and extending the instantaneous benefits of on-demand services to business travelers, all while making that spend visible to travel managers wherever it happens.”
With the last minute booking such an important factor in business travel this partnership is sure to benefit business travelers, travel managers, and businesses as a whole.
“Our business is built to meet the needs of the last-minute traveler,” said Sam Shank, co-founder and CEO, HotelTonight. “Integration with Concur will further our ability to serve this audience and provide our business customers a streamlined booking and reporting experience, the process of finding a hotel from seven days out up to the eleventh hour.”
