As Microsoft decided to take its event strategy in new directions, CEO Satya Nadella inferred at Convergence 2015 that there would be some changes to the largest Microsoft event of the year, focusing on the upper level decision-makers as opposed to Convergence’s main attendees: end users looking to make the most of their products.
What began as a Great Plains user event in 1997 with 167 attendees grew to include AX, NAV, SL, and CRM, becoming an annual event hosting 12,000+ people in 2015.
Notably, many attendees felt miffed when there was zero mention of any of the Dynamics ERP products during the keynote, with Nadella focusing on Dynamics CRM, Office 365, Skype for Business, Cortana, Delve and other Microsoft applications.
And this brought about the quieting of Convergence—to be replaced with the C-Suite focused Microsoft Envision, slated for the same time slot as Convergence. While Microsoft Envision 2016 (April 4-6, 2016 in NOLA) looks to provide insight for attendees, it will nave little to no GP content, and will be focused on leaders at organizations, not end users.
For GP Users, Microsoft appears to be returning to its roots, announcing a community-focused event focused on the end users: Amplify 2016.
Amplify 2016: May 23-25, 2015, Anaheim, CA
Announced by GP Marketing Manager Pam Misialek this week, Amplify 2016 is the community-focused end-user event for Dynamics GP. From the Microsoft Blog:
“One of the things I like about Dynamics GP is the community. We have a strong communication network filled with passionate people. We have listened to our existing Dynamics GP community and are delighted to support the Dynamics Communities GP User Group (GPUG) to create an existing customer event that has Microsoft lead content.
Amplify will talk about the latest solution innovations, new product updates like Dynamics GP 2016 and have the opportunity to connect with Microsoft to learn about product roadmaps and the future direction of the Dynamics GP product. It will also include an Expo and the Microsoft Support Helpdesk. Amplify will be held May 23-25th in Anaheim, CA at the Marriott Anaheim. For more information visit: www.gpugamplify.com.”
What is Amplify?
Created for the thriving Microsoft Dynamics® GP community, Amplify hosted by GPUG will offer a Convergence-like line-up of educational sessions including a deep-dive into Dynamics GP 2016, led by the Microsoft GP team.
End-users attending Amplify will discover the latest solution innovations and new product updates, and will have the opportunity to connect with the Microsoft team to learn about product roadmaps and the future direction of the Dynamics GP product.
Bringing GPUG and Microsoft Together
The collaboration between GPUG and Microsoft brings together Dynamics GP experts from the industry and the Microsoft GP team to provide end-users with a roadmap of Dynamics GP and surrounding technologies. Amplify will facilitate the direct dialog between end-users and Microsoft for advocacy and influence on the future direction of Microsoft, Partners, and the Dynamics GP industry as a whole.
