The folks at Microsoft have outdone themselves with the release of Dynamics GP 2010. Modifying reports and forms has never been this easy or flexible. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 now has pre-defined templates for several frequently used reports in Sales Order Processing, Receivables, and Purchasing modules. There are currently 22 built-in templates that can be used and modified with your Microsoft Word version 2003 or above. You can easily change the fonts, size, content of the templates. You can also add pictures, logos, and data fields. And the default templates cannot be deleted or modified, so you will always have the original to go back to. A copy is made of the original template which is then modified and saved.
When you look at the printed version of the form or report, it looks just like any other Word Document:
To modify the template:
Navigate to Reports >Template Maintenance
In the Available Templates list select the default template you would like to modify
Click Modify to load the template into Microsoft Word
Add the additional configurations and modifications to the template
Select File >Save As
Save the template. It is recommended that the template be saved to the same network location as your Reports dictionary. This makes it accessible by other users
Close the Word Template
Modified templates can then be assigned to specific Customers, Customer Classes, Vendors, or Companies. You can then assign different versions of the template to different customer classes or assign one modified version of the template to the entire company. How flexible is that!!
