Following Wipfli’s appearance on Accounting Today’s Top 100 Firms in April, Bob Scott’s Top 100 VARs in June, and a plethora of other awards and recognition laid upon the company in the past few months, we are proud to share that the company has also appeared once again on the Accounting Today list of Top Value Added Resellers for the year 2018, grabbing the number 12 spot—up $9.2MM in revenue and two spots from 2017.
Accounting Today Top 100 VARs in 2018
In their annual report, The 2018 VAR 100, the magazine measured the top 100 value added resellers in terms of annual revenues from accounting software and technology consulting services. As with the Bob Scott’s Insights report, this is based on revenue from finance-related technology—primarily from ERP, but including revenues from complementing software as well.
In this year’s edition, Wipfli placed 12th, with $43.30 Million in technology consulting revenue, driven by high sales of Dynamics 365, AX, GP, SL; NetSuite; Sage Intacct; and Abila MIP. Up $9.2MM from 2017 to $43.30 million in revenue from technology consulting, this revenue represents a 15% of its overall $282.30MM in firm revenue.
Top Trends among VARs in 2018
In addition to ranking the firms, documenting growth, success, and revenue while giving VARs “bragging rights” in the community, the report looks at some of the top trends that will affect those in the technology reseller market in the next year:
- It’s Pretty Much All Cloud at This Point: Accounting Today has spent the past few years discussing the rise of the cloud in their annual VAR list, and the opening words of this year’s report, “there are very few tech products […] that don’t have a cloud offering,” solidify the fact, finding that more and more potential clients are actively seeking out cloud options, noting “it’s no longer cloud vs. on-premises.”
- Smarter Technology: It’s not just the shift of deployment. Companies, with cloud technology at the top of their mind, are looking beyond the deployment options for the smarter technology the cloud brings including robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, automation, predictive analytics, and more.
- A Reinvigorated Focus on Security: Following the continued rise of breaches, companies at the top are looking to bulk up their cybersecurity services to serve clients. Whether it’s through acquisitions of cybersecurity leaders or by developing talent organically, VARs are forging into this field traditionally held by broader IT service firms.
Additionally, the continued fight for talent, consolidation, and growth ring true among VARs as well.
