Brittenford Systems Partners With Stop Hunger Now for Annual Event
Reston, VA – July 24, 2013 – Brittenford Systems, a Reston VA-based technology services firm, is partnering with Stop Hunger Now for a September 28 event to help combat world hunger. Stop Hunger Now is an international meal packaging program that supports school feeding programs and crisis relief to millions around the globe.
Brittenford supports Stop Hunger Now’s mission of a world without hunger by hosting their Meal Packaging Event each year. The event involves an assembly style process, which combines rice, soy, and dehydrated vegetables, including 21 essential vitamins and minerals, into small packages that can ship easily and have a 5-year shelf life. Every dollar raised provides enough food for four nutritious meals so Brittenford is looking to top last year’s goal of $5,000 and over 20,000 meals packaged.
“Last year, we raised $5,000 and packaged over 20,000 meals to support the holistic work of Salesian Missions in Haiti to socially and economically rehabilitate street children.” says Shereen Mahoney, CEO at Brittenford Systems. “This year, we want to do more so we have set a goal of $6,000, which will allow us to package 24,000 meals to help those in need.”
Volunteers will meet on Saturday, September 28 from 10am – 1pm EDT at Reston Association located at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston, Virginia. Brittenford is currently seeking 50 to 70 volunteers of all ages to help with meal packaging. The event is fun, hands-on, and volunteers are encouraged to bring their friends and family.
